Physicians and other professions ignoring the Cult Issue.

Unread post by David McCarthy »

Physicians and other professions ignoring the Cult Issue..
Something else that was 'revealing' came up with a recent examination and debunking by a professional biologist regarding JZK's DNA claims.
This is something I have personally battled to understand since realizing JZK-R was a sociopath and R$E a destructive cult.
The persons who kindly examined for EMF JZK-R's DNA testing by Chiropractor Matthew Martinez,
made the comment
"it's so ridiculous it merits no attention"
This approach to cults cuts right across the 'professional' field, Scientist, Journalist, Teachers, Politicians..Etc..
I wrote to this person...
Much appreciation for your time and review looking into JZK DNA testing...
Even Carl Sagan in his book 'The Demon-Haunted World' had a go at debunking JZ Knight/Ramtha.
It’s very important the professionals/academics also take a stand and speak out against cults with their pseudoscience BS and actively debunk them. How else is public going to know its BS and protect themselves and their families?
It may save lives literally"

When was the last time we heard from a professional psychologist, psychiatrist, therapists speak out against a cult? even journalist seldom investigate unless there are bodies scattered on the ground. Are they so above it all?
They all seem content to sit at the bottom of the cliff and administer to those who lay broken and shattered at the bottom.
But seldom are willing to place themselves at the top of the cliff to help stop the carnage from happening, now why is that?
Carl Sagan, Margaret Singer, Melissa Genson... are an exception. A politician in the US once told me to my face...
Cult members get what they deserve".
I believe much of this awful attitude and sidestepping is fed to our own shame and guilt of getting used and deceived by a cult, much like a victim of rape. I have reached a point in my life if someone sincerely asks me, why di you live in America for over 20 years? I honestly tell them I was snared by a destructive CULT. Most people want to understand and have compassion. But first we must "come out of the Cult closet' so to speak. Shame and fear is the weapon of choice Cult leaders/sociopaths will use to keep their victims SILENT.
Enough is enough.. And for those who profess to uphold humanitarian and human rights in their professions,
Its time they also helped stop this scourge on humanity if we are not to go extinct from the hands of religious political sociopaths
hidden in plain sight.

I share your pain, David.
These things come to mind as to WHY not much is being done about this problem of harmful cult formation.
!. There is no money in it.
Look at how in America anyway cult awareness activists have struggled on donations and volunteer labor. ICSA, for example, cannot afford to pay for even featured speakers--they all pay their own way unless someone donates. ICSA'a director for the past decades makes far less as a PhD psychologist than the average mental health clinical director and his responsibilities, threats of being sued etc are far far vaster. he has no government backing, no protection, therefore has to walk a very careful line in published criticism. In UK, France, Germany, Spain there is some government assistance for cult awareness on an academic level as well as legislative support, but not much for helping with recovery unless the ex-member exhibits diagnosed mental illness or breakdown.

2. No specific academic credentials or university degrees to legitimize and license the field of intervention specialists so they could be covered by insurance polices for their work. As a result, the availability of qualified or seasoned interventionists has shrunk to almost negligible numbers..they are all over 55 as far as I know. Most families cannot afford out of pocket what an intervention can cost and they are not sure they can trust the skills of people out there now.

3. Addressing cult issues get very squirrel-y as to definition and law. When is it a crime? When is it undue influence? What is the difference between most cults and culturally accepted religious activity? The governments in China, Russia, and North Korea can define what is acceptable and what is "evil" based on a totalitarian national model. For example, addictive substances as a parallel issue, governments set standards on controlled substances and criminalize others. Alcohol and nicotine are okay within limits but heroin and cocaine are never ok. Russia supports the Orthodox Church but restricts Jehovah Witnesses and Scientology.

Thanks Joe

You know firsthand the pitfalls and risks it takes exposing cults and helping survivors regain their lives and sanity.
As you also know from experience getting sued by a cult is no picnic and finding a balance of protecting your family
and exposing a cult is a hard call at times.
I forgot to mention in my "Physicians and other professions ignoring the Cult Issue" rant my appreciation for The Freedom Foundation's Glen Morgan
I think the JZK.Inc vs Glen Morgan trial is scheduled for November?
