The Great Courses - American Religious History

One of my initial hooks with RSE was the appearance of knowledge and learning, what with the bookstore, lecturers and suggested reading.

The Great Courses have been a great contribution to feeding my mind without getting reattached to another religious philosophy.
The key is to get on their mailing list and wait until the course you are interested in goes on sale (about twice a year). $20-$60 per course instead of $100-$200. Also always check for coupons for free shipping or an extra 5-10% off.

I highly recommend the course on American Religious History. ... px?cid=897
Listened to it while commuting for a few weeks and found it so interesting and helpful!
It helped me get the monkey off my back regarding "how could I fall for this stuff?"
Still cracks me up to know that the word "Methodist" meant about the same as "Ramster" in its day. It was meant to be mocking.

So, on the one hand, it was helpful to discover that RSE fits right in with the crazy train of American-generated religions.
It also became more apparent to me why forums like EMF and EE on Facebook are truly a service to future generations...getting some fair assessment and behind-the-scenes looks at JZ's shenanigans before she passes away and one of the devotees picks up the torch to make it "respectable."
