Revelations in biblical prophecy sums up the reason behind earth changes. It is to fear god and that is a religious concept itself. Modern sci fi never acknowledges god. When I look at sci fi the people use common sense and pure reason to analyze situations. They do not sit around waiting for god to solve their problems. They also do not wait around for god to blow their enemies into Kingdom come. They must act or be destroyed.
Religion is pure baloney and operates on belief and not pure logic.
To mislead the people is the forte of priests and liars.
