just wanted to put the reminder out there to go vote today!!
How this relates to rse... I always found there was quite the apathy when it came to voting and being involved in anything political/activist, since there was this prevailing impression that everything was rigged anyway. If ramtha and his 'friends' or whoever hadn't already decided who would be elected then it was the grey men who pulled the strings (so much for being all powerful...) or, at other times it might be up to the will of the people (you're joking, right?) but the people would have a tough choice between their humanity and the higher good.... blah, blah, blah...
Of course there have also been plenty of patriotic calls to action, like in the case of nascar or years ago, the prison etc. However, it always took rallying all the people with a directive from above, another example of how easy it is to start a fad in rse. Since we were pretty much told not to watch tv and sully our minds with biased media info, etc it was pretty darn hard to be informed when it came to issues or candidates, not to mention the hours we were to spend doing disciplines in a day or monitoring our thoughts... doesn't leave much room for being involved in the mundane activities of everyday life.
Having dropped out of high school to go to rse, I have certain gaps in my knowledge regarding the american election process, but I continue to learn now that I have an interest again. I'm glad that I can be a part of this historic election and even though I find it slightly tedious and difficult to sift through the jargon I feel proud to do any small part that I can and have my voice heard.
