Prozac
Here's what I want to know: At one point J/R blanketly prescribed the SSRI anti-depressant, Prozac for THE WHOLE SCHOOL. I know a few people who found resources for Prozac without getting it through a doctor.

What I know about Prozac is that it can really mess you up if seratonin isn't the neurotransmitter that your brain's synapses need to bathe in.

Has JZ/R ever rescinded that prescription? Are students still taking that?

Prozac can indeed mess you up; or, help you cope with and overcome depression. It is an individual thing. Problem is, the medical and psychiatric community had not properly tested Prozac in controlled studies when it was released on the market. And they cannot explain why it works for some people, and not others, why it is helpful to some, and harmful to others. Other problem, if you use it for extended periods of time, your brain no longer makes the chemicals that it is designed to replace or optimize - same problem as with some pain medications - your body stops producing natural painkillers/endorphins, sometimes permanently. So, with an anti-depressant like Prozac, short term use may help you "over the ditch", however, long term use can cause permanent damage. Recently, Pozac derivatives like Paxil have been found to increase the likelihood of suicide in teens. My hope is that students at RSE for whom it was not helpful, or were having bad reactions to it, would have stopped taking it, in spite of what R said.
I hope it's common use at RSE has ceased. Can you confirm that, See & E?

See&E - I guess my question was about your comment about all other teachings being 'the past'. I don't know much about the neighborhood walk (although I'm sure it's just some recycled garbage in a seemingly new bag), it wouldn't be anything new to have JZ saying 'this is the best/only/ultimate discipline, forget anything I ever said' but I'm just wondering if that's what you meant? And are you talking about the disciplines or the teachings?

If you believe in the third eye, don't take Prozac

Unread post by Lost in Space »

Among other things, Prozac targets your Pineal gland, causing it to go haywire.
It has a whole host of side effects, some of which persist after it is discontinued. A lot of people ascride the waning of their intuitive or psychic powers when at the ranch to practicing C & E, however, many people believe, your intuition is centered on your third eye, or pineal gland. Well, Prozac can damage your pineal gland, like many other antidepressants.

Here is an article on this topic, for those who are interested.

Really glad it's not used at the ranch much anymore, they might actually be having a better experience there now than some of you here did.
