This should be fully investigated and then reported correctly, the citizens of Yelm are not happy about the many unrestrained and overjealous building approvals without proof of water which involves a court case in Olympia WA; the closing of many long-time established business in the community such as Arnold's or the down-sizing of Gordens or other business' and the fact that city government ignores their concerns and requests. Please investigate the truth and the real story by going outside of the Yelm city government and talk to the community, thus getting the real news about how Yelm is not really the bright spot that city government wants all to believe. This is the same city government that issued in a Yelm council meeting, that Wal-Mart would not be uttered or spoken in their meetings, which made headline news and reported to the ACLU.

Here are some comparisons of City population water needs...

Las Vegas, Clark County, Nevada .....

Yelm,...
has a population of about: 5,372 + The Thurston County population of: 234,670, total = 240.042 people.
Yelm is close to the only temperate rain forest in the northern hemisphere.
The average yearly rainfall for the Yelm area is about 53 inches

My point here is...Yelm does not have a shortage of water.
But what it does have is..
JZ Knight spreading groundless fears of water shortages in Yelm, while burdening
the Yelm City Council and the Tahoma Terra developers with costly litigation to halt them building a housing development
so close to her RSE compound.

It is true Judith....this development would not be good for your business...!
But the world does not revolve around you, nor your destructive organization.
Perhaps...
Las Vegas would be a more fitting place for your "Ramtha" show.

If some school members become disillusioned or the economy hits them hard enough, is it possible property will fall and Yelm start to shrink?
I've got a friend who has a home he's renting there. and might put up for sale. Is Yelm a better or worse place for property values at this time?

From what I have observed...property values have fallen these past two years, as much as 20%.
Those with "underground bunkers", will always be a sought after by the more wealthy RSE "beginners" moving to Yelm.

How does that old Yelm joke go...?

the military alone accounts for more housing currently than Ramsters in and around Yelm.
Which, to say, was not the case in the late 80's.

In the Puget Sound region, the net pending sales charts and numbers have remained pretty constant
since 2003.
The inventory has slightly doubled in that same time span, especially in 2007, hence
the housing market is a buyer's market with over 7+ months supply (vs a seller's market
generally has 3-5 months supply of inventory and a balanced market has roughly 5-6 months
of supply of inventory)

I think this is strictly due to the entire American housing market and not the Ramster housing market.
And it is definitely not quite as bad in the NW as it is in other parts of the country
(e.g. California, Ohio valley)
As with all cycles, things will turn around.

Back in '89 a Yelm native Fireman - (on duty at the Ranch for some reason) told me re Yelm's growth over the previous 10 years - NOTHING to do with JZ. The military has always been a reason for growth in Yelm; and the simple fact that development (consistent with the rest of the country), is, in a sense, forced to Yelm. For those not from or haven't lived in this area, the two major cities, Tacoma and Olympia are surrounded by military bases -- thus development leaps to Yelm -- it's inevitable, has nothing to do with JZ or with any recent Yelm city govt. And, as said before, the move of military bases has been known for a long time, and has been gradually going on for a long time -- otherwise Safeway, let alone Walmart, would have never come to Yelm.
Also, re the mayor and court and judge -- After the hearing with JZ the city of Yelm sincerely sincerely sincerely believed it was "business as usual". What Steve doesn't mention/explain/describe is how JZ's lawyers added new info, new requests, new arguments at the time the Judge was to make the official decision -- thus the City of Yelm was taken by surprise.
The question to Steve is if he's so concerned about balanced news, why doesn't he stick to facts.
And, every friggin newspaper and news station in the world focuses on accidents, disasters, bad news.... Perhaps he should write to the NY Times and Washington Post and tell them to quit reporting accidents. Which newspaper or news station in the world is not funded by advertisements or donations, i.e. money? Kinda like his boss who's business decisions are based on money?!
