Designer Babies & Longevity

Unread post by Whatchamacallit »

I don't know where to put this info...so I figured this is a good place. In "moving on", we can also talk about our lives as they don't relate to RSE. (yeah !!!!)

Anyhow, as some readers know, I am quite fond of science (college major). One area in particular that I enjoy keeping abreast of, is nanotechnology. In a way, it makes me laugh to think about RAmbles rambling on about science and pseudoscience, putting forth futuristic concepts to the audience that s/he doesn't substantiate.

As JTR mentioned in posts long ago, one only has to look at the REAL world progress in science to see what benefits are unfolding for humanity in so many areas of life. RSE's fantasy world of chasing dangling carrots of surrealism pale in comparison to what REAL masters in SCIENCE are doing. (pun intended)

Here are some links, that also include moral dilemmas, but nevertheless, the technology is HERE, NOW, not in 500 years of walking in fantasy land on the field, lining JZ's pockets. Not because we have to draw cards to have "fantastic realism". *I* think what science is doing today IS fantastic, without RSE. Imagine.

Unlimited Life Expectancy - Pushing Long Life to the Limit
December 17th, 2008 ? No Comments ? Aging, Philosophy, health, longevity, nanotechnology

Every year sees an increase in life expectancy, and this rate of increase is accelerating.
For example, in the UK. Between 1981-91. Life expectancy for a 65-year-old man increased by 1.6 months. During the following decade it increased by 1.8 months. Between 1995 and 2005 the increase was 2.3 months.

Check this out.

What really cracks me up in here, is I remember Rambles saying that in "fifty years" there will be a little robot that could be inside your body monitoring your systems, etc., etc.

HAHAHAHA.........that was just a few years ago that the old goat said that.

Different timeline, me thinks, cuz the technology is already WELL underway NOW.

JZ must have read about it =-)
