I posted this in response to Joe SZ post, part one of two. Because it's what immediately came to mind in terms of cult behavior. Follow the leader. It has also unexpectedly occurred to me that "channeling" is as old as the garden of Eden.
From the beginning of time (as we know it) civilization and reality has been founded on channeled information from someone professing to be in contact with an invisible source and authority. Marching people off to war against their neighbor. Setting laws and custom.
