Very interesting. Perhaps someone ought report RSE - in the name of all of those who perished doing C&E to cure their cancers.

Hm, that is interesting. Did you guys check out any of the comments left by people...? Looked like many are up in arms at the FDA 'trying to take away their choices'. I'm the first one to stand up for patient choice and informed consent, but that's the point... how can a person make an informed decision when they are being fed lies. It's one thing for a person to take a chance on a risky remedy knowing full well that there are risks, it's another thing entirely to hedge all bets on a promised result that is based on vague testimonials of questionable origins.
As far as the money making aspect, sure the pharmaceutical companies are all about the almighty dollar and that is a problem. And all drugs have associated risks, but a patient needs to weigh those risks with the potential benefits to be gained (which can be quantified thru studies and research...). Besides, who do they think profits from the 'alternative' remedies...? No one...? Come on.
Yes to patient choice, no to deception.

Part of the "problem" with alternative methods not having the testing that it could have (doesn't mean there isn't any testing, by the way), is that those in power (pharma, med schools, etc), who pull the strings, and who are behind the government and university walls, rubberstamping approvals for HOW the money will be spent on research, doesn't let much money go to research alternatives that should/could be researched. One of my favorite books is called The Scientific Validation of Herbal Medicine. Guess which country had just about nothing in the way of studies done on herbs and their chemical composition, mechanism of action, active ingredient(s) ? The good ol' U.S.A. Many other countries have studied, for example, St. John's Wort (good for mild cases of depression). The countries who studied these herbs came up with the same results, too. The U.S.A. is too busy building bigger drug empires. They have no motivation or inclination, to study natural methods.
There is a LOT I can say about this.
